Meet Our Board of Directors

Tristan Smith, Chairman

Tristan Smith was raised in western Wyoming, growing up on small farms and ranches in Star Valley. After high school, he worked in welding and for the railroad before earning a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business Management from the University of Wyoming. His career included banking, oil field work, and mining operations.

At age 42, while working on a survey crew conducting an aerial flyover of a mine site, Tristan lost his eyesight in a life-changing accident. At the time, he and his wife were raising six children, ages three to thirteen.

Nearly eight years into his journey with blindness, Tristan continues to embrace growth and new challenges. As President and Founder, he is passionate about expanding opportunities for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. He is committed to helping others recognize their potential and pursue full, meaningful lives beyond limitations.
